Why Should I buy a north San Diego home in this market?
JoeCobb says:
It all depends on your personal situation. Where do you want to live? How long would you plan to live in that area? Do you have a stable income? What are the needs of your family? How far would you drive to work; to shopping; to recreation; to worship? What are the rents in that area? What are the prices of homes you would want in that area. Can you qualify for a loan to buy that home you would want? Do you have the needed cash to get that loan?
Once you know the answers to the above questions we can say this is one of the best markets to buy a home i have seen since 1967 when i bought my first home. For two reasons: First, prices are as low as they will get in most areas of San Diego County. Importantly, they are often lower than it would cost to build. Also, when you consider the option of renting or buying, the scale has tipped to buying in the majority of cases. Especially when it comes to owner occupied housing.
Second, the interest rates are lower than they have been since I bought that first home in 1967. A generation! You can buy more home for less.
To know if it is time to buy I recommend you contact an expert realtor who can do a rent vs buy, help you discover the many loans available that you qualify for and to simply see if the home for you is available in the right neighborhood. Never assume you do not qualify. There are many great loans including HUD homes with very low down and very affordable terms.
Always pick a Realtor and always choose someone expert in your area.
